GrowCube Modular Vertical Farm Produces 200kg of Vegetables Annually in a Closet-Sized Unit

On July 21, 2028, Dutch agricultural technology company PlantLab released the GrowCube home vertical farming system. The closet-shaped device (1.8m tall, 0.6m wide, 0.6m deep) contains six growing shelves, each equipped with independent LED spectrum adjustment and aeroponic nutrient circulation systems.

GrowCube's AI management system automatically adjusts light spectra, nutrient concentration, and temperature/humidity based on the growth stages of different vegetables. The system contains growth models for over 60 common vegetable varieties—users simply select what they want to grow, and the device handles the rest. PlantLab claims that under standard conditions, GrowCube produces approximately 200kg of leafy greens annually, sufficient to meet a family of three's daily vegetable needs.

The device consumes approximately 200 watts—comparable to a medium refrigerator. Priced at 3,200 euros with annual consumable costs of about 400 euros. PlantLab has begun sales in the Netherlands, Belgium, and Germany, with plans to enter Asian markets in 2029.
